Does your company operate in or solves a problem at some point of the food value chain? 

Even though we focus on a specific sector of the economy, food & agriculture is a huge industry with a very broad, global value chain. Does your product have an impact over any of these stages: Inputs, Farms & Growers, Processing Companies and Traders, Food Companies, Distribution & Retailers, Consumers? You may also be working on a transversal sectors such as logistics or storage.

A smaller portion of our investments target startups that are not exactly part of the food value chain, but that have some relation to the food industry, such as forestry or animal feed, or even wellness products related to consumer trends shared with food-tech startups. 

Technology

Does the solution you provide have a core technology component?

We look for the use of technology in the startups that we fund. It may be a completely digital solution or a product/service that is enabled by technology. 

Scalable

Does your company have a clear and scalable business model?

The business model must have been tested in the market. You should have a clear plan for scaling the business. 

Stage

Is the company’s development or funding stage at late Seed/Series A?

We consider companies that have already found an initial market fit and, in most cases, have shown traction. We look for companies that are ready to grow.

Geography

Does it (will it) have any presence in Latin America?

Although most of our investments will go into local companies that operate in at least one Latin American country, we are open to investing anywhere in the world as long as there is some connection to the region. When investing in non-regional companies, we will most likely participate as co-investors with a local or global VC lead.

Impact

Will the solution have a positive social, environmental and economic impact?

Although we will focus primarily on business fundamentals and return on investment for investors, an important part of our mission involves fomenting a positive impact to solve critical global sustainability issues.
